History
:: The Torchbearers ministry in Romania began shortly after the revolution in 1990 as a missionary project of Schloss Klaus, a Torchbearers ministry in Austria. Initially, the Torchbearers work in Romania was limited to supporting the Lutheran Church in its ministry to the German minority in Romania. This support included Bible study weeks, youth work, youth leader training and Children's Bible Study Weeks.
:: On July 7th, 2001 a Romanian legal association was formed with the goal and vision of doing among the Romanian majority that which Torchbearers had initially done only among the German minority in Romania. PDF was formed as an interdenominational association to serve the Romanian Churches. PDF is part of Torchbearers International and continues to work in close relationship with the Austrian center Schloss Klaus
:: On August 12th 2005, work began on the construction of a ministry center for a Romanian Torchbearers center in Rasnov.

:: Purtatorii de Faclie is an international and interdenominational Christian mission. We have legal status in Romania as a non-profit association with a missionary and humanitarian scope. We want to serve the Christian Churches in Romania through our ministry. We call ourselves Torchbearers because we want to carry to all people the light that has been brought by Jesus Christ into this world. We love to see that men and women come to know Jesus in a personal relationship and discover that this relationship is relevant for our daily lives in the 21st century.
:: Torchbearers International runs at present 20 centers and offers Bible school, Christian conferences and camps. The ministry started 50 years ago in Capernwray, England and has spread all over the world. A practical expression of our missionary work is the ministry to the needy, like the craft shops for the disabled in Austria and the orphanages in Sudan and India.

The Basis of Faith of the Missionary Fellowship of Torchbearers:
:: God is the triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
:: The Lord Jesus Christ is God's Son being one with the Father. All things are created by Him and for Him.
:: Through the action of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary, He became man.
:: He was without sin and of His free will, and by His sacrificial death upon the Cross, He brought about salvation for this fallen world.
:: He is the only mediator between God and man, and by accepting His salvation through faith, man is justified from his sins and receives forgiveness and eternal life.
:: Jesus Christ is risen bodily from the dead.
:: Jesus Christ will return to deliver just judgement and to bring all things to completion.
:: The Holy Spirit is God in unity with the Father and the Son.
:: Through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ comes to dwell within those who accept Him through faith. Through the presence of the Holy Spirit, a person becomes a new creature, and is being transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ.
:: Jesus Christ adds those who believe in Him to his Body. This is His church on earth, of which He is the Head.
