Overview

Our 3-month Bible School program is unique within the Torchbearers Bible Schools family because of its strong emphasis on preparing students for cross-cultural ministry. We want our students to grow in their understanding of God’s Word, to grow in their relationship with Him, and to experience the challenge of communicating the gospel in a cross cultural environment. Our program is intentionally challenging and intensive to reflect the reality of full-time ministry.

Students will face three main challenges as part of their practical training

Outdoor Team Challenge

Students will learn to grow in their ability to work together as a team while they encounter various challenges within the local Carpathian mountains of Romania.

Cultural Challenge

Students will be placed in a foreign cultural environment in order to practically apply what it means to adapt and live in a cross-cultural setting.

Mission Outreach

This will be a multi-day outreach that will be a longer distance from the center. Students will begin preparation for this outreach early in the program

Experiential Learning & Outreach

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24

Each student will have the opportunity to put into practice what they are learning through weekly local outreaches and organizing several evangelical programs as a group (ex: sports ministry, outreach into orphanages & gypsy villages). The local outreaches can vary from after school programs, children/ youth English programs, or youth group. Students will also face 3 major challenges as a team:

Community & Discipleship

PDF is a diverse, international community centered on Jesus Christ and making Him known. Students will participate and live in a community of students and staff that will challenge and encourage them to grow individually and practice what it means to be part of a body.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Phillipians 2:3-4

Family Groups

Students are assigned to a different staff family group each week. During this time the students and family will have dinner together and either discuss relevant topics or just hang out an have fun together. The purpose of this time is for the students to get a first hand experience of life as a missionary, to experience the unique culture of each family, and to grow in relationship to the staff here at PdF.

Team Assignments

Team Assignments

Throughout the program, students will work as a team through various activities and learning exercises as well as plan and put on outreaches. The program also includes teaching on the topic of leadership and provides opportunities to apply these principles.

Discipleship

Students will be mentored and discipled by staff who are missionaries in Romania, who love the Lord and are in active ministry.

Worship

Students will be encouraged to spend time alone in prayer and reflection. There will also be times of group prayer and worship.

Prayer Nights

We will have selected prayer nights throughout the program to pray for topics relevant to the students, Romania, and world in general. The most important aspect of this time is for the students to connect with our Lord Jesus in a deep and intimate way.

Praise and Worship

Students will have a period for praise and worship prior to the first lectures each weekday morning, during the evening chapel services, and on selected worship evenings during the week. If there are enough musically gifted students, student worship bands will be formed and asked to help with the praise and worship events. Instruments such as upright piano, keyboard, two guitars, box drum, djembe, tambourines, shakers are all available for the students to praise God with. We have an overhead projector connected to a wireless iPad to control slides. A sound system with microphones, DI boxes, soundboard and recording capabilities is also available.

Student Testimonies

“I really appreciate how PdF is one big family. Everyone is there for each other to support and encourage one another. One thing that my time at bible school taught me is the importance of fellowship. I was challenged to let God lead my relationships with the other students and the staff. Learning to love others more deeply and unconditionally has grown my heart and desire for their Creator even more.”

Abigail - USASpring Mission Bible School 2017

“It amazes me that through three months of frustration and insecurity, there was incredible growth. Bible School was one of the most challenging times I have ever experienced in my life. But God brought me their for that very reason; He took the passion for missions and instead taught me what sustains a missionary: abiding in Christ, through perseverance.”

Rachel Papaleo - USASpring Mission Bible School 2018
